Privacy Policy
Last updated November 6, 2026
Short version: we collect as little as we can, we never sell it, and we don’t run ads or ad trackers.
What we collect
- Your email address, only to send your sign-in link. It’s never shown to other readers.
- Your profile: your display name, and an Instagram handle if you choose to add one. These are public.
- What you do on the site: theories, receipts, comments, suggestions, Missing Pieces answers, votes, hearts and reports, plus when you made them. Your posts show your display name. Votes are counted, but we don’t show who voted.
- Settings saved in your browser: things like light or dark mode, whether you’ve seen the welcome tour, and which Missing Pieces you’ve answered. These stay on your device.
- Basic technical logs kept by our hosting providers (for example, IP address and browser type) to keep the site running and secure.
How we use it
To run the site: signing you in, showing your posts with your name, sending notifications inside the site, counting Lore Points, reviewing submissions, and keeping the community safe. We don’t send marketing emails.
Who else handles it
We use a small number of service providers to run Lore Explorer: Supabase (database and sign-in), Netlify (website hosting) and our email provider (sign-in emails). They process data only to provide those services. We don’t sell or rent your information, and we only share it if the law requires it or to protect the community.
Kids
Lore Explorer isn’t for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child under 13 has signed up, contact us and we’ll delete the account.
Your choices
- Edit your display name or Instagram handle any time from your profile.
- Ask us to delete your account. We’ll remove your email and profile, and either delete your posts or show them as “A reader.”
- Ask us what information we have about you.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information while your account is open, and delete it when you ask us to, apart from anything we need to keep for legal or safety reasons.
Changes
If we change this policy in a significant way, we’ll let you know on the site.
